The project is a complex structure which involved highly detailed design and manufacture by Compass Engineering and will house an experimental facility which will burn waste at high temperatures, generating electricity. BP’s Salt End plant is reported to be one of the most efficient in the UK, and with this help from Compass Engineering, the new Bio Fuel facility will see them continue this claim.
Compass Engineering are to provide Blaydon based Graphite Resources Ltd the steel framework for a new state of the art processing plant.
The plant will house various machinery involved in the processing of waste and recycling including the creation of bio fuels and soil manufacture via anaerobic digestion from material that would otherwise go into landfill.

Firm's Twenty Years of Achievement
Compass Engineering Limited is celebrating its twentieth anniversary this
year, this represents a tremendous achievement for a company which was
started as a supplier largely to the National Coal Board and was set up
during the middle of the miners strike of 1984.
There have been highs and lows over the period, but essentially the company
has performed well, increasing its turnover and profitability steadily
over the years. Recently the company celebrated its achievement with an
anniversary dinner at the Brooklands Hotel, which was attended by well
over 100 past and present employees and their partners.
The entire workforce shares in the profits of the business, and health
and welfare is a priority. At Christmas 2003 all the current and retired
employees were given a special bonus to mark the 20th Anniversary.
